FEATHERDALE WILDLIFE PARK

Featherdale is located on a 7-acre (2.8 ha) plot of land in Doonside, near Blacktown in Western Sydney. The park contains various animal species native to Australia, and is known to be one of the world's largest collections of Australian fauna. Some of these are endangered in the wild like the Tasmanian devil and plains-wanderer. The park's collection includes kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, wombats, short-beaked echidnas, quokkas, bilbies, dingos, bats, emus, southern cassowaries, little penguins, saltwater crocodiles, and several other mammals, reptiles and birds. The facility contains around 2000 individual animals within 260 species. Featherdale Wildlife Park has assisted in several breeding and conservation programs.

The Three Sisters is the Blue Mountains’ most spectacular landmark. Located at Echo Point Katoomba, around 2.5 kilometres from the Great Western Highway, this iconic visitor attraction is experienced by millions of people each year. CAHILLS LOOKOUT

Overlooking the Megalong Valley, Cahill’s Lookout is one of the most impressive lookouts in the Blue Mountains, but without the big tourist crowds. Quietly tucked away on the westernmost point of Cliff Drive, the lookout offers breathtaking views of the valley, Megalong Head, Boars Head Rock, and the Narrow Neck Peninsula. A paved 500 metres long walking path leads to this lookout with multiple viewing platforms to explore.

LEURA VILLAGE MALL

The heart of Leura is the Mall, one of Australia’s most beautiful village streets. Well-preserved old shopfronts line both sides of the road, and a gorgeous grassy park studded with gorgeous old cherry trees runs all the way down the middle. Leura has a reputation as a gardener’s paradise, and as you ride through the streets your driver will point out some of the most spectacular private gardens. Many of them are open to the public during the very popular Leura Gardens Festival, held every October. Apart from gardens, there are two main reasons why people stop in Leura: to eat and to shop.

Established in 1945, Scenic World began with Harry Hammon’s entrepreneurial vision to transform a former coal mine into an iconic tourist attraction. With the closure of Katoomba Colliery in 1945, Harry recognised an opportunity to innovate, converting old coal skips and existing rail track into a passenger train, creating what is still today the world’s steepest passenger train. Today, Scenic World continues to be owned and operated by the Hammon Family, offering award-winning experiences to over a million visitors annually. It has a scenic railway, walkway, cableway, skyway and Gruffalo Spotters Trail.

STREET ART WALK

This community-driven project was created by Street Art Murals Australia (SAMA) in partnership with the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and University of Western Sydney. It sees Katoomba’s Beverly Place precinct transformed with larger-than-life murals from some of Australia’s, and the world’s, most talented street artists. It’s a constantly evolving streetscape with works by the likes of Melbourne-based Matt Adnate, known for his graffiti portraits of global Indigenous peoples.
